Oral Appliance Therapy for Snoring

Snoring is the first point on a range of breathing disorder. The sound occurs due to partial obstruction of the airway in the back of the tongue as air passes over loose soft tissue of uvula. The snoring noise factor is highly annoying not only for the person suffering from snoring but also disturbing others who are in the same environment and creates interpersonal frictions.

Snoring could have a direct connection to sleep apnea and is emphasized by overweight, alcohol and exhaustion. There are three ways to treat snoring: Operations, oral appliances or breathing machines. The breathing machine is a device which is also called CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure).

Snoring and sleep apnea have a direct connection to heart diseases and in order to find the right treatment for the patient it is necessary to carry out a test to determine the quality of a person’s sleep patterns. This test is administered for the price of SEK 750.

At our clinic we use Oral Appliance Therapy to treat snoring. The appliance works by repositioning your lower jaw while you sleep so that your airways remains open and apneas are prevented. This results in major decrease or elimination of snoring and more restful sleep.
